Joby Gorillapod

I’ve never hugged a gorilla. I’ve never even cuddled an orangutan. In fact, the closest I’ve come to experiencing the engulf of a primates arms was this one time in a crowded elevator on the London Underground, but I don’t really want to talk about that.

The Joby Gorillapod. Bendy.
Anyway, the point is that I’d wager that your average gorilla is not the easiest thing in the world to escape the embrace of, and I guess that’s why they’ve called this cunning little doohicky a Gorillapod.

It weighs about the same as 8 half-empty ballpoint pens (32g) and attaches to your camera using a standard tripod mount screw. It’s really nice to play with, each section coated in a silicone rubber bumper, and if your OCD doesn’t restrict you to trying to straighten the legs perfectly after use, then the opportunity to play War of The Worlds with them is great.

SUMMARY: If you, like me, occasionally feel the need to hang your camera off the branch of a tree, or attach it to anything as curly as a Kinkajou’s tail then the huggy little Gorillapod is perfect for you. He’ll hug like a 4 year old meeting Mickey at Disneyworld.
