Terra Nova – world’s lightest 2-man tent

Less than 2 cans of Coke and a Mars Bar. And considerably less than my Full English breakfast today, the Solar Ultra 2 tent from Terra Nova is the world’s lightest 2-man freestanding tent – at 772g.

Designed for mountain marathon events or short duration backpacking trips.  It pitches with the inner first for a more stable structure and ultra-campers can reduce its weight further with Terra Nova’s FastPack system. This is a method where a footprint is used to cover the floor area of the tent and locate the poles, allowing the inner to be left behind. That’s probably not going to cut it for a romantic weekend away though… and neither is the price, which places this little record-breaker in the ultra-specialist end of the market.

This is NOT the lightest 2-person tent in the world – not even by a long-shot. One of the lightest (and still probably not *the* lightest) is the ZPacks Hexamid Twin Tent at 20 ounces (567 grams). That even includes seam sealing, guy lines, stuff sack, and tent stakes.
