Step It Up A Gear At The Sealskinz Ultra Trail Series

Sealskinz, the British Endurance Accessories manufacturer has announced that it will be title sponsor for Extreme Energy’s Ultra Trail Series. The Sealskinz Ultra Trail Series is made up of multi-day endurance races, but this year the series also includes a taster event for walkers and runners looking for their next challenge. Are you feeling ready to take it up a gear?

Taster Events from Sealskinz

The Chiltern Ultra will take place on July 16th. Starting at Prince’s Risborough School, the 31 mile route follows National Trails through the Oxfordshire countryside. What makes this attractive to experienced and inexperienced participants is that there is no time limit on completing the route, as founder Neil Thubron explains, “We want to attract more people into the world of ultra running so we have created what we call our “intro” events. We have made taking part as easy as possible by choosing a scenic, easily accessible and well marked route and make sure that competitors are well supported for as long as it takes them to complete the challenge.”

For those with some Ultra experience, the multi-day events start in February with the Pilgrim Challenge – a 66 mile route following the North Downs Way. All of the two day events follow well established trails including The Cotswold Way, Buckinghamshire’s Ridgeway and the Pony Express in the New Forest. The Isle of Wight event, which runs in parallel to the famous Round the Island yacht race, follows the coastal path for 70 undulating miles.

Taster Events in the snow

“These routes are fantastic, but they get wet and muddy, which is where we come in,” comments David Richards, Head of Marketing at Sealskinz. “A lot of competitors will be familiar with our products, but this is a chance to put them into practice. We’re literally asking them to ‘dip their toes in the water’ and we know they’ll come out dry.”

Winners of the Sealskinz Ultra Trail Series events will receive products from Sealskinz’s first ever dedicated running collection which launches in the Spring. The range offers carefully crafted, run-specific socks, as well as hats and gloves designed with the runner in mind. Under the sponsorship agreement, as well as having naming rights to the events, these products will make up part of the winners’ prize at each event through 2016.
