Ridgemont Adventure Outfitters has selected Spring PR as its marketing partner to launch its brand of urban outdoor footwear this March 2014.
Based in Long Beach, California, Ridgemont has put together a range of shoes using waxed canvas, high-grade leather and oiled suede. It will premier with a men’s collection with a women’s range hot on its heels in the not-too-distant future.
Stacy Lowery, creative director at Ridgemont says: “We were looking for, a well made, simply styled shoe that could cope with the outdoors. We wanted footwear that offered essential technical qualities like water protection, durability and comfort but had a more urban aesthetic look; footwear that wasn’t bulky but that offered substantial grip and was as at home on a short, wet trail as in an urban environment. Problem was we found that shoe hard to find, that’s why we designed Ridgemont.”
All styles feature a custom Ortholite® insole and the outers comprise a range of water proofed, oiled suedes and waxed or oiled full grain leathers from premium European hides that are tanned in gold rated, environmentally responsible tanneries. Ridgemont’s footwear also uses bespoke premium quality waxed canvases, 100% natural gum rubber for soles and each shoe undergoes a stint in the oven as part of the vulcanised construction process.
The brand has a comprehensive marketing strategy in place that includes working with brand ambassadors including Sir James Mallinson – who recently broke the UK long distance paragliding record; Justin Reynolds – a professional skate-boarder; and travel journalist and household name Charley Boorman. Other initiatives include a social media campaign driven by gap year students in conjunction with The Leap, a gap year adventure company.
