ISPO – 2013 Gear Sneak Preview

ISPO is a huge annual trade show where most of the brands in the outdoor industry show off what they’ll be launching later in the year. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the gear which caught our eye.

Osprey’s new range includes 3 bags with the word “port” in their name which all have an iPad window. Useful for commuters, outdoor workers etc.

Zamberlan’s Speed Hike Crosser is a lovely lightweight boot and has won a prestigious award – expect to see it on the hills.

Patagonia’s womens wear includes some lovely detailing, like these inner thigh vents for dealing directly with the parts which get sweaty.

Keen are dubbing this the perfect boot for every adventure. A first feel suggests a lightweight comfy boot with definite trainer-like feel.

Black Diamond’s Deploy snow shovels are very pretty, and with a sturdy but retractable handle, look fit to deal with any snow.

Black Diamond are also showing the Icon 200 Lumen headtorch – pretty sexy.

Nikwax chose ISPO to launch a new waterproofer for fleeces, named Polar Proof. We’ll be testing it soon.

Sprayway have a nice range of accessible gear, as well as some top-spec stuff like this Gore Tex Pro jacket. More on that lower down the page…

And we particularly like Sprayway’s range of women’s warm wear. Very pretty but functional.

Polartec’s awesome Alpha insulating material is making an appearance on a range of brands’ gear from autumn. This Rab jacket is one of many to feature the breathable insulation technology.

Coming to the UK this year, Korean company Black Yak is our top tip for one to watch. Their gear is superb.

And these are some of Black Yak’s packs.

Gore Tex Pro is everywhere. 28% more breathable and tougher than previous Gore Tex, it will no doubt become the industry leader in breathable waterproofing on top-end garments.

Heimplanet’s inflatable tents are just very cool. This is the Wedge.

British brand Sub Zero follows the definite trend towards bright colours, introducing yellow and red to its range of thermal gear.

More colour on display from Berghaus, who’s entire range of down jackets is moving to the superb water-resistant Hydro Down later this year.

Love them or hate them, the rolling gait boot is here to stay and a link up between Vibram and Hi-Tec sees the Revolution boot coming in 2013.
