Have a fun day out with Respect the Mountains Envirotrek Mountain Clean Up

Get back to nature, make a difference in the mountains and get treated to a hearty lunch and fun afternoon of activities in the great outdoors by joining the third UK annual Respect the Mountains Envirotrek Mountain Clean Up sponsored by KEEN.

Respect the Mountains in conjunction with KEEN are delighted to present their third UK Envirotrek for Summer 2014. This years series will see Envirotrek’s first visit to North Wales, to Llanberis in the glorious Snowdonia National Park on 17th August, followed by a return visit  to the Lake District a week later on 24th August.

The increasingly popularity of tourism in the mountain environments across Europe presents a huge conservation challenge. The environmental footprint is considerable and so popular mountain destinations are becoming increasingly in need of both public awareness of the environmental issues and practical on-the-ground action to clear them of waste in order to maintain their natural beauty and enjoyment for future generations. Envirotrek helps to address this need, giving back to  these important natural areas by hosting hikes and clean ups –  fun, practical events that are both enjoyable and effective.

From just 100 participants in the inaugural series in 2009, the event has grown to almost 500 people being involved in clearing some 2630 kilos of rubbish during the 2013 series.

Please visit Respect The Mountains for precise location details over the next couple of weeks

WHAT CAN I EXPECT..Each participant in Envirotrek is required to fulfill an important mission – two hours of hands-on cleanup action! Participants are equipped with health and safety protective kit and plastic (or biodegradable) bags, with allocated teams being established and briefed on their area of responsibility.

Fun initiatives are set and prizes are given at the end of each Clean Up mission for example for  The most waste collected and The most unusual piece of rubbish found.

After their exertions on the hill, participants can refuel with a delicious BBQ lunch including meats, salads and vegetarian options.??Participants then can spend an afternoon enjoying a wide selection of fun mountain adventures, including climbing, via ferrata, mountainbiking, canoeing, rafting, GPS-tracking, and more *  All of these activities are managed by local companies that have been selected by Respect the Mountains for their professional client services. It is a fantastic afternoon of action and a chance to really enjoy the best of the mountains.
