Minnie, aged eight, made short work of putting it together and, interestingly, treated it naturally with respect as though it was a real knife. Neat psychology. She needed a little help in pushing through the wooden dowels as they were so tight but she made the point they had to be, “Or else the knife would fall apart”. Good job the ‘helpful’ adult didn’t start sanding parts.

There are lots of useful pockets, some with zips, some with elastic and all of them in just right place and the right dimensions for the size of the bag. Jasmine certainly manages to pack plenty into it and it’s all accessible. As I said, she uses it for school every day but it’s also ideal for weekends away, having enough space to fit a couple of changes of clothes, the usual bits and pieces that 9 year old girls take with them, and of course her teddy!

The thickness and height of the rubber toe rand means that your child will never be able to kick enough stones or crawl around sufficient quantities of rough ground to penetrate the shoe or even damage it sufficiently to make it look tatty. In fact, I think I am setting a challenge right here and right now to toddlers the length and breadth of the land to try and prove me wrong!
