Cascade Designs, the parent company of some of the most respected and well-known brands in the outdoor industry is celebrating its 30th year in its European manufacturing facilities in Cork, Ireland.
The parent company Cascade Designs Inc was originally set up in Seattle in the 1970’s and is behind brands including Mountain Safety Research (MSR), Thermarest, Platypus, Sealline, PackTowl, E-Case and Hummingbird. They expanded their operations into Europe in the early 1980s and in 1985 the company created a wholly-owned subsidiary Cascade Designs Ltd in Cork and they now employ 122 people at the Irish facilities.

Cascade Designs has introduced many industry-first and revolutionary products including the original self-inflating Therm-a-Rest and first multi-fuel camping stove from MSR. Other highlights for the company included the introduction of the Therm-a-Rest NeoAir insulated air mattress in 2006 and MSR Reactor Stove System in 2007. More recent highpoints for the company, include the launch of 2014 Outdoor Industry Award winning MSR Windburner Personal Stove System and Therm-a-rest Evolite.
